Wow. Just. Wow. That 1881 sure is a looker. Love that stock. Seems I remember seeing that a few years ago. You got me interested in Flues during Covid. The 1881 Marlin/Flues rifle is a mild custom that Flues stocked, and converted to scheutzen with the Ballard Farrow buttplate. Screw heads are all ...

Re: OAC two day collector gun show
Agreed, love the 1881. How strong an action are they? Can they do smokeless trapdoor loads? The 1881 isn't as strong as the Win. 1886, but plenty good for loads under 30,000 psi. I load nothing but low pressure smokeless in the three I have. The flues 1881 is in .40-60M, which is what Win. copied w...

Combos?
It seems like suddenly about half the posts here are about gun combos! Not sure why the sudden interest and flood of combos popped up, but I've always found these combos to be a compromise for either the rifle or the pistol used. A load that works the best in one, rarely works well in the other; so ...

I have old cars and trucks, but not because I fear an EMP. Just because I love old stuff, and find it enjoyable to own and build. I have a 1939 Chev coupe, 1937 British Austin sedan, and my 1969 Chevy Suburban. Not sure if they'll work after an EMP, but not losing any sleep worrying about it either.

The .35 Remington is a wonderful cartridge, and has had a very loyal following among people who know the cartridge well, and like older Marlin and Remington rifles. I'd never call it a "do anything" cartridge though, as it's a great deer rifle, but not a varmint or elk gun. Not that both c...

Back in the late 1800's John W. Sidle began building rifle scopes for target and hunting use. He was ahead of his time and built scopes that were considered some of the finest made in the 1880's. The Sidle scopes were unusual in they had a 7/8" tube when all others then used 3/4" then, and...

I think the ammo for the 586 is newer than you think. The 586 wasn't introduced until 1980.
I'd try all of this ammo and see how it goes. Even if you lose a case it wont harm the gun. If you do, then I'd not shoot anymore of that particular ammo and dispose of it.
