Loads for Browning 1886 SRC??

I'm just starting to reload for this .45-70 rifle and was hoping that you would share some of your favorites with me. A few months back, I had a thread going on potential 700X loads...consensus was that it's too fast a powder for .45-70. So I did some research, and have seen a number of other powder...

Your a hunter; whether your slug takes out the top of the heart or just punches a hole through the bottom dosen't matter - its dead. Yeah, I figure that extra 1/4" of accuracy is beyond my skills to even notice (especially with iron sights). Since this post began I've been wringing my hands, w...

Re: Breaking in a new Gun

OK, now I'm concerned. It seems the general consensus is that, yes, one should follow a break in procedure that includes cleaning after every shot for x number of shots. So, does that mean I really messed up my Browing SRC in 45-70? When I got the rifle, I put about 25 shots through it (slowly) in t...

The scanoes are great in flat water, but you will need a motor of some kind in any moving water (unless you are constantly moving downstream). They are too heavy for one person to effectively paddle against a current. Pluses -- hold a lot of equipment and people, room, stability (you can stand up in...

Seems to me the .44 provides more versatility...certainly on the high-end and you can load it down to .44 Special for SD or Cowboy ranges for fun shooting and plinking. Loaded up to magnum levels, you can take hog or any number of other animals.
