I bought the standard version at Cabela's years ago. It is definitely a very cold weather cap, I wore it last winter when it got below zero and had to switch back to a regular ball cap. Now, if I could wear one on the flightline, I'd love it! The wind just cuts right through you out there!

Just another tip: a foam earplug works awesome for plugging the barrel. Nothin wrong with newspaper, but I found a rag didn't work well.

We did tire work in high school if you bought the tires and brought everything by the shop. I remember pulling a "T" bone out of a tire, one of my teachers had hit a bag of trash that was in the road. Seems to me that someone had steak before they tried to take the trash to the dump!

It seems like every forum I am on has a thread just like this every few months. I ALWAYS carry at least one knife, currently a Kershaw Blur in S30V, often I add my Gerber Compact multi-tool. I feel naked without one on me.

Mink oil! It is used to protect the leather, not just waterproof it. I use it on my Gore-tex boots too, the leather in those needs help as well.

Kinda OT, but I like Harry Turtledove. He does alternate history. The best series is about the South winning the War of Northern Aggression. It tarts out fine, but I'm not liking where it's ending up.

Cutting oil is used to lubricate, cool, and flush chips away. I would use Tap Magic, if you can find it. Otherwise almost any light oil would work. Beeswax is also a good lube for aluminum. Good luck with your project!
