Yep, I'm in Maricopa County as well (Sheriff Joe's County). I do not know his history as a DEA agent, but I am happy with what he has done and is doing in his current role. As for McCain, he deserves respect and recognition for what he endured in battle. The problem is that he hasn't done anything -...

Bottom line if you don't reload and trust 1 company to manufacture the special ammo with proprietary powders the mx is allright. If you reload the mx don't do as well as the ai, which doesn't depend on limited availablitly of things. Yep, that pretty much sums it up. Oh, the MX can't be bought with...

That is impressive and seems to me quite an increase over the factory 30-30. That puts it right in the same ballpark with the MX and lots of bullet choices.Don McDowell wrote:Alot of what I have done with 150's in th ai will go well past 2600.
Don, have you don any testing with the 130 gr. Speer in the AI?

You take the special burn rate powder and the gummybear tipped bullet away from the mx , and you're lucky to do what some ol outdated good for nuthin ackley conversion does with ease. Buy a chronagraph folks. I agree Don, I would like to see an apples to apples comparison between the ...

Cast Boolits question
I have already asked this on the Cast Boolits sight but wanted to pick your guys' brains too. I am thinking the Lee LA is a cheaper way to go but messy. But I wondered if you could only use that method with the Lee Tumble Lube type bullets. Apparently you can use it with any type boolit. So, if you ...

Last summer I traded for a pre-safety end cap stocked "336". I posted about this rifle back in August last year: http://www.marlinowners.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=23389&highlight=alamo Anyway, the sights did not line up vertically with the receiver, They weren't bad but bad enough to b...

Bruce, I own an original .356ER Marlin and have been singing it's praises to my buddies for a while. I have located a gunsmith that will rebore a 336 30/30 to .356 for about $150. This can be a real bargain to those who already have a 30/30 336 or for someone who can find one cheap (usually not dif...

PF-9 here also. Great little carry gun, but you do know you are shooting a compact 9mm. I am thinking of getting a KT 380 for a pocket gun though as it is even smaller as you can see. Friend of mine that owns a gun shop likes the 32 real well because of the size but I would prefer a little more powe...

I would keep the 72 1895. First year production, presafety, straight stock, no front sight ramp, they will not be making them again. Do I need to continue? Here is to hoping you make the right decision. 1886. Dittos. I'd be looking for a like vintage .444 to go with the 1895 you keep. I agre...

What distance are ou shooting? Any difference in velocity or chamber to forcing cone issue might not show up as an accuracy issue until it gets out to further distances. Might have to start moving the target out until the shot pattern opens up. That is a very good point marlinman! It could be there...

Mark, Before I would buy the hardwood stocked 336W or 336A for $379, I would look at something on GunBroker.com such as this with Walnut Stocks: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=88464316 Just do a search for 336 and you will find lotsa options. You may even find a real nice pre-saf...

Mark, If you go with a 30-30 you can also still get the Remington Accelerators (55gr 22 cal in sabot) as factory loads. They are seasonal runs and are a little pricey but they are an option. I have seen them recently at both Cabelas in Glendale and The Sportsmans Warehouse in Mesa. You may be able t...

Mark, Just an FYI, you can find the 1894 in 357, 44 mag, and 45 LC at the Big 5 Stores around AZ. They also have the 336 ('W' I think). I was just over there the other day at one of the Mesa stores and they had all 4 of them. The sale price is $379. Prices are likely to go up after the first of the ...
