Along the lines of Noah's post, after you slug the barrel then measure a pulled bullet from the ammo you're shooting to see how it lines up. Seems I remember Waters or someone mentioning certain bullets being better in "sewer pipes" than others. May need some experimentation. Good luck.

I have a Charter Undercover set up with a Hip Grip and adapter. It works well, but I prefer a "normal" grip for most uses. I suspect that if I practiced with the rig more it would be fine, but I have a Smith 638 which I prefer so I use that instead. I carry the Smith in a pocket. The Hip G...

The hurt doesn't ever really go away, but it does dull, thankfully. I lost one in '04, the best dog I ever had and I still hurt for his loss. I had a heart attack a few days later. It probably wasn't as a direct result of Bingo's death, but it certainly didn't help.
I pray for your comfort.

I could have chosen a number of rifles/rounds. The '06 Sako has been my favorite rifle for many years, but lost out to the Guide Gun mainly because of the area I would use it in these days, which is mostly dense woods...and because the GG is stainless. A bolt gun has always been my go to, but my thi...

Don't know why I went down this road
I ordinarily don't think in these terms and I sure don't intend to get rid of any guns. In spite of that I've been considering which one of my guns would be the do it all/one rifle to keep. If I wanted griz relief, I'd want a stout loaded .45-70 over the choices you mention. If you handload you can use reduced loads for the kids (there's a "cat sneeze" .45-70 thread running now). And the stainless Guide Gun would be a plus for you, I'd think.

A lot of .22 ammo works well for me, particularly CCi Mini-Mags, Stingers, Win. Dynapoint, and Federal Gold Medal Match. If I had to pick one for all around everyday use for plinking and hunting, it'd be the Mini-Mag HP.
