Re: Universal Watch Repair in MI

The manufacturer called bull! They said the winding stem head broke and was jammed in a gear. They replaced the win...

Never pass an opportunity - late season deer hunt

I was travelling for reasons other than hunting and came upon a last minute unexpected opportunity. An air force contractor had special permits for deer that were overpopulated on the airstrip, testing site and disposal acreage. One of my friends found out about this before my arrival so I did not h...

I like the 22 Mag but wish it was reloadable to keep the cost down. Instead, the somewhat high prices keep the number of rounds I am shooting down. However, I've seen some bulk packed CCI's and Federals lately that are a few buck cheaper than buying the 50 round boxes up to the same quantity. The cl...

Re: What are your thoughts on .308 as a hunting caliber?

There was a time when I didn't care for the 308 Win cartridge. I was young and it got a bad rap from a few elders I respected. Eventually I sold mine. 20 something years later I bought it back mostly due to sentimental value and interest in leverguns moreso than the caliber. I got carried away shoot...

Re: Scope Placement On Your Rifle?

I strongly disagree with the concepts described aforementioned. For a field rifle, you lift both hands together to your cheek and pull it back into your shoulder. You then press your cheek down on the stock. That is a proper gun mount. Then, if you are adjusting the scope you bring it back until the...

I like the .452 250 grain XTP with the Harvester Crushed Rib sabot in my TC. They worked good at 1800-1925 fps m.v. Those are 45-70 Rhinos purchased in 2012. The chest cavity shot and particularly shoulder shots have produced a jelly-like handful of bloody material inside the animal. Very severe damage.

There are Impala, Blesbok, Baboons, Klipspringer, Rheebok and so on that are under 150 pounds and can be taken readily with that power level. Domestic...

The caliber is a bit longer than 357 Magnum but not as long as 357 maximum. The rifle has a simple .21 chamber ream and polish. The cartridge guides had to be filed back a little to handle the length. It'll still shoot 38's or 357 Mags. The 360DW hits the sweet spot with the 180 gr. XTP as far as bu...
